year the day comes when you are supposed to come up with fresh and exciting new Valentines Day ideas.
So what is the idea behind Valentines Day? Well, this is a day which the industries have created in order to make you spend your money. What is so special about Valentine's day? You already have your partner's birthday to spoil them at and show them how much you care. Besides, you don't really need a special day to celebrate your love, you tell each other "I love you" on any given day.
Ok. True.
But... is it so bad to turn it into another excuse to invest time and thought (and yes, some money will probably be involved in the process too) in your loved one?
After all, it's just one day of getting out of your way to surprise that special person. Is that so wrong to give into it, take advantage of it and for once not live by your principles? Let go and show some love, it's a nice thing to do!

of all, let's get one thing clear: This is a time to spend ALONE with your loved one. So any children, parents or housemates should not take any part in it. Get them out of the house or go somewhere private. Privacy is the key for a truly romantic time, it shows that you are willing to put in the time and effort into your relationship.

Now for all you singles out there, you have two options (as wallowing in misery is not an option!):

You probably have single friends that you love. You also have a family that you love. If these loves are mutual and you find yourself without a romantic partner at the moment, organize something fun to do together with the other people you love (which are, if you haven't realized just yet, your family and friends). No, it is not a distraction from being alone. You're not alone! Remember that love comes in many forms and the love you get from your family and friends is something that you should celebrate and cherish just as well!
If everyone else is busy, spend some quality time with the person you love the most. Your friendship with yourself is highly important. If you won't love yourself then no-one else would either. So go on... treat yourself a little! Or a lot :)
